There are two graves surrounded by rocks in the older part of the cemetery. They are not side by side but kind of head to toe. Do you have any idea who may be buried there? They are close to Benjamin and Anna Thomas. They had a daughter, Sarah (Sallie) who married Samuel Valentine Enis. We believe they died just before 1900 and probably about the same time. Do you know of anything that might suggest this may be them or anything that would contradict their being buried there? Thank you.
There are quite a few that are bunched together like that in this cemetery, unfortunately many were un-readable. This cemetery is about 2 hours from where I live, but if I get back there I will make a note to look again to see if I can determine any information for you. You may want to visit findagrave.com and look at this cemetery as some of the families are linked and there may be more information there, even if there is not a photograph.
I saw your reference to Sallie Thomas and Samuel Valentine Enos. Here is what I have in my notes and how accurate these notes are I can’t say. Samuel Valentine Enos married Sallie Thomas and Sallie died 12/ll/1893. They had children: Tina b. 1889; Everette b. l890; There is a child named Ella B. 1893 which means that this is the same year Sallie died. Could she died from childbirth?
Re: Sallie Thomas Enis and Samuel Valentine Enis/Enos CORRECTIONS
The graves in question may be Sallie Thomas Enis/Enos and her infant child #1 born to Sallie and Samuel Valentine Enis/Enos. Infant child (Etta) only lived a few days. Born: Jan. 16, l888 & died Jan. 26, l888.
Child #2 was named R.V. “TINE’ short for Valentine born l889 and died in 1975.
Child #3 was named Everett Howard Enis/Enos born 1890-1958.
Child #4 was named James Clayton Enis/Enos born l895 and died in 1954.
If Sallie died from childbirth, then the child born #4 James Clayton Enis/Enos is the child born in 1895 (year of Sallie’s death).
Are there dates on the tombstones? Thanks. Hope to hear from some of Sallie’s relatives.
